“Every person’s story matters. My role is to help you explore yours with care, curiosity, and a path forward.”
Hello, I’m Sondra, a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with 11 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s most complex challenges. I specialise in two areas: individual trauma therapy for children upwards of age four, teens, and adults, and complex couples and family therapy. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you find balance in your life.
I take a holistic psychological approach, considering the biological, emotional, social, and relational experiences that shape how we think, feel, and behave. My work focuses on the mind and nervous system, the foundation of feeling safe, connected, and resilient. I support individuals who have experienced stress, adversity, or trauma and may feel stuck in survival mode, whether on constant high alert or feeling disconnected.
With a strong background in psychology - the scientific study of the brain and human behaviour, and advanced training in trauma-informed approaches, I tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs. I don’t believe in quick fixes; instead, I focus on understanding and addressing the root causes of distress to support lasting, meaningful change.
I work with people across all stages of life, including blended families and couples where one or both partners may be living with attachment wounds (anxious, avoidant, or disorganised insecure attachment), trauma, PTSD, or other mental or emotional health challenges.
Many of my clients arrive feeling “too complicated”, often after trying therapy elsewhere. My role is to help uncover the origins of your struggles, calm and regulate your nervous system, and restore balance in both your body and your mind.
What sets me apart in a crowded field is my ability to hold complex, layered stories with both clinical expertise and deep compassion. Clients often tell me that my integrated approach and lived understandings offer a perspective they haven’t found elsewhere.
Above all, my practice is guided by compassion and science. Science shows that when we look beyond the symptom and understand the story of both the mind and nervous system, true healing becomes possible.
As a certified member of the Psychotherapy Matters Virtual Collaboration (PMVC), I offer comprehensive psychological assessments, with the option for psychiatric consultation when beneficial. This collaboration enables me to work alongside a psychiatrist both before and after your assessment, enhancing diagnostic clarity and treatment planning. Throughout this process, you will continue receiving care from me as your therapist.
While OHIP covers the psychiatrist’s consultation, my session fee will be billed at the standard therapy rate. This fee reflects the integrated clinical work involved and ensures you receive cohesive, team-based care. This approach combines a medical perspective with therapeutic depth, all while maintaining the safety and continuity of your therapy. The integrated clinical work involved ensures you receive cohesive, team-based care that combines medical perspective with therapeutic depth, without interrupting the safety and continuity of your therapy.
